First off, you should probably ignore everything John McCain and Sarah Palin are saying.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a staunch Obama supporter, it’s just that the rheteroric has gotten so vile that it’s not even worth considering.  That aside, what about this whole issue of redistribution of wealth.  I’ve often suggested that we [...]

I’ve said it before, but you’d think this country could have better people leading us. The same might be said the world over. That doesn’t just mean the president or even congress, but our banks and businesses.  Most people in any organization find themselves taking orders from their superiors who are more often than not, anything but superior.  [...]

There is another call for a massively expensive stimulus package similar to the $600 checks sent out toward the beginning of the year.  This isn’t enough and is mostly political, yet I do believe the economy needs some sort of stimulus, although I’d love to see it come from the private sector, that may not [...]

There are millions of millionaires in the United States, many times that number the world over.  Most of those millionaires aren’t actually rich, although they are relative to most other people; but some percentage of those people made unconscionable amounts of money every year, money even they knew was excessive.  There are the CEOs that [...]

On meet the press Colin Powell said everything I have been feeling about the campaign.  He got it right, every word of it.  I think he would have made a good president but he’s too smart to fall into that trap.  I think anyone running for president has to be crazy.

The United States is an amazingly diverse economy with diverse people, interests and capabilities.  Our government has made some significant mistakes and we are set for some difficult times ahead, but the game is far from over.  I believe that the recent financial crisis is a wakeup call.  We need to re-evaluate nearly everything about society, [...]

Is the crisis over?  Hardly.  Keep in mind, our entire economy is linked together and based on little more than faith.  Real-estate is linked to stocks is linked to retail is linked to politics is linked to government spending, etc. etc.
The stock market is almost a religion based on faith that there is some real value [...]

William Ayers was a relative unknown until John McCain brought him up during the campaign. Ayers did what he had back in the late sixties and early seventies to gain attention; McCain’s making an issue out of a non-issue is telling would-be activists that if attention is what you are after, violence works. At the same time, McCain’s guilt by association strategy leaves him far more guilty from his association with Charges Keating who victimized 23,000 people and cost the government $3 billion during the period while he and McCain were close friends.
